The act of looking around is usually the beginning of the creative process. To encourage a personal way of observing, we will design and fabricate a custom tool, that will bridge physical and digital environments. This device will collect data to be analyzed and used to influence dynamic output communicating this found data.
Students will explore these computer controlled systems and manipulation of a variety of input devices like basic switches and pressure, proximity, sound, and light sensors among others. Ways of exploring and translating sensors inputs will be researched. In spite of its technical nature, this course will consistently evaluate computer controlled systems for their value and implication as an new way to gather information, synthesize and share it, and aid the design process.
